Magic Tricks Revealed: The Three Basic Skills Needed To Become A Stunning Magician   by George Hutton

It is the dream of many to stand in front of a huge audience that is cheering you and hanging on your every word. As a magician, you have a special gift of control over any audience. More so than any other entertainment profession, you control the precise delivery of exactly what the crowd wants to see and hear. And more than any other profession, you literally hold the crowd in the palm of your hands. To find out what it takes to become a world class magician, read on.

The first skill you’ll need to develop is simple sleight of Hand Tricks. These are easy enough to practice, and you can use any small household object that you can hold in your hand. Most people think they are only done with cards, but magicians use coins, small objects, even live birds. The secret for doing an effective sleight of hand maneuver is crowd misdirection. As they are trying to figure out what you are doing with your right hand, you’re doing something sneaky with your left, and vice versa. Of course that requires another skill.

The second skill you’ll need is to become a confident and skilled public speaker. In order to effectively distract a crowd, you’ve got to be able to talk a good game. Spinning yarns, going on about somebody in the audience, anything to keep them occupied so they don’t pay too much attention to your hands. A great way to practice this is to join any public speaking group, like Toastmasters. The more you practice, the better you get, and there are plenty of helpful people there.

Another useful but often overlooked skill is that of the mentalist. These are illusions that give others the impression that you have powerful psychic skills, but are really just based on simple psychology. Practicing cold reading can give you a decided edge when doing performances. Cold reading is simply speaking in vague terms, or general truths in such a way that people think you are addressing them personally. Believe it or not, this is actually the easiest skill to learn as a budding magician.

With these three simple skills, public speaking, sleight of hand, and cold reading, you will powerfully skyrocket your magical skills into the stratosphere. Just basic level skills in each of these categories will quickly make you a hit at any party, and you’ll soon become the most sought after party guest in town.

Of course, once you start to develop these skills, you’ll need to practice them in public. Most people have loads of fun simply by carrying a few props, and simply looking for opportunities to introduce a trick or cold reading illusion at a party or a bar. People absolutely love somebody who knows secret things about them and can deliver them with skill. Projecting some pseudo psychic energy toward people is a great party skill to have.
